TREE WATCHER'S MAGNOLIA AT THE END OF MARCH 2014

THIS POST WAS SENT TO LOOSE AND LEAFY FOR PUBLICATION HERE BY
TREE WATCHER

"Maggie," my Magnolia tree is putting on her Spring clothing now!
The first pictures up there were taken on March 13. The one below was taken March 23, to show the progress in the growing and opening flowers.

The following  pictures were taken on April 4. You can see how just about every bud has opened to show it's pink Spring dress!

Note that there are no leaves appearing at this stage!

This close up night shot with flash reveals much more detail than the day shots. My passion of photography
has me trying new things for different results. Even the lichens shows up well here! It will be interesting now to
see how long it takes for the leaves to start appearing. Will that happen before or after the blossoms are gone?

  1. A magnificent Magnolia. I wonder why Magnolias often have lichen growing on them. Mine do too. I think it makes the bark look more interesting.
